Flying north to run south...
I’m packed, prepped and feeling positive!
Sitting here in Blenheim airport, waiting to fly north in order to run south…something quite ironic about that… I’m reflecting on how I felt only a week ago; sore, stressed and borderline personality disorder - swinging from positively excited to spontaneous tears. I was limping around with an infected big toe having tripped on a twig (!) and grumbling about a stiff neck having tripped (yes again!) and face planted whilst out running in the dark weeks prior. Typical patient fashion I put off getting it looked at thinking ‘it’ll be alright’… physios can suck at being patients sometimes too!
Truly I am so grateful for the positivity and support I have been given from my friends, family and my beautiful new extended family of Outward Bound Anakiwa to the companies who ‘got my back’ - James Keugler Coaching for keeping me focused and my legs spinning, Edge physio’s Richie & Kat coming to the rescue with a few cheeky needles, Alex Popple Nutritionist -fueling the NZ Olympic cycling team and from 2 wheels to 2 legs with little me, find him on Instagram at enhance_nutrition_coaching or info@enhance.nz - thanks for giving me some fab advise on nutritional guidelines, I shall waiver from these at my peril! Radix sponsoring me with their fab athlete specific dehydrated food, Macpac for dressing me head to toe and ensuring I stay dry in the rain. Dave of The Crafty Weka Bar weighing my pack down ;) with the best tasting nutrient packed energy bars ever. Go Good powering me with their yummy protein powders, Pic’s peanut butter - as where would a girl be without those delicious slugs! Finally PaKnSave Blenheim for my ‘pak lunches’ of tuna and wraps.
I’m now just super excited to get running and hope to see as many friendly faces on route as possible! x
